Scooter

Maggie got a scooter on her birthday and was so excited. She has ridden it inside many times but has been told that she needs to wear her helmet outside. The first time she tried to ride it outside, the helmet pinched her chin and she has refused to wear it since...until recently. Last week she decided to try it again, and the helmet was fine, so she has been able to ride the scooter around the neighborhood. I took some pictures and short video today. Hope you enjoy!

Teddy Bear Picnic/Fall Break/Nashville

Last week Maggie had her teddy bear picnic(s) at school. Because she goes 5 days a week, her class participated in two picnics. Unfortunately, due to the rain, the picnics were inside. That didn't keep it from being a success. Barbara went to the picnic on Wednesday and I went on Thursday. Maggie was so excited to have us at her school and we were glad to be there. They had bear shaped sandwiches, cookies, a bear cake, and lots of good food. It was nice to see her at school and watch her interact with the kids.

This week is her fall break so she has no school. I will be staying home with her most of the week so it will be nice to have the time together. Today I was able to watch her gymnastics class and she did great. We also went out to dinner with Mia and her family and had a great time.

Because it was fall break, there was no soccer game this past weekend. I think we will have 5 soccer games to play in the next 3 weeks, so I hope it doesn't rain.

Yesterday we went to Nashville and had lunch with Barbara's dad and his new wife, followed by shopping. Maggie spent her own money for the first time - she bought a Donald Duck cup and a Minnie Mouse fork and spoon. She was also able to play on the little rides they have in the mall. It was a long day, but we all had fun. On Saturday, Maggie made a pumpkin cake. She added all the ingredients herself (including the eggs), did the mixing, and add the frosting and sprinkles. The cake is delicious!

Rain, Rain Go Away!!

Maggie's soccer season can be considered a wash out to this point. She did play last Saturday and a make up game on Sunday (in the rain). This past weekend, both Saturday's game and the make up scheduled for Sunday were rained out. We have 2 or 3 games to make up now! After not wanting to play the first game of the year, Maggie was eager to play the 2nd and 3rd game. She hasn't scored yet, but is sure having fun. After her game last Saturday, we went to a fall festival at a local park. Maggie got to ride on a "train" and sat in a fire truck. She seemed to enjoy it. She has a teddy bear picnic at school tomorrow and Thursday, and guess what.....It's supposed to rain! They'll bring the picnic inside if it does. Barbara will go tomorrow and I will go on Thursday. Both Maggie and Mia have been moved up in soccer to the "hot shots" which is the early stages of team competition. They are both doing well and I was able to watch yesterday (I love the benefits of being a government employee).

School/Fall

Maggie's first few weeks of school have gone great. She looks forward to going every single day and can't wait to go back. Tonight at dinner she recited the pledge of allegiance for us. There are also several songs and games she has learned. It's been so good for her, and we are so thankful that things have gone so well. She was sick for a couple of days this week so missed school on Monday and Tuesday. She had a cold and the start of an ear infection. She has been prescribed amoxicillin and is doing fine. Barbara is now sick, so we hope she gets better fast - we have a busy weekend.

Maggie's 2nd and 3rd soccer game were both rained out so we have a game tomorrow, Sunday, next Saturday and next Sunday. We also hope to get some more fall decorations out and I need to find time to mow that lawn. We have had SO much rain here the last couple of weeks!

Barbara and Maggie got some Halloween/fall decorations out this week and I bought a pumpkin today after work. Maggie put her "Hello Kitty" face on it already. She can't wait to go trick or treating and she already has her Minnie Mouse costume. She'll be very cute!
