Barbara's birthday/nieces

Last week Barbara's 3 nieces spent the week with us. They are all teenagers and Maggie felt so grown up hanging out with them. They were great with her and gave us a break - I didn't hear "nobody wants to play with me" the whole week! We kept the girls busy with shopping, movies, goony golf, pictures, haircuts, etc. On Friday afternoon, Barbara and her mom and aunt took all the girls to the tea room. I told Maggie that I couldn't go because I was a boy. I found out later that she saw a man there and pouted because I didn't come with them. She got over it fast, however.

Barbara's birthday was Wednesday so we celebrated her birthday, her cousin Beth's birthday, and her cousin Doug's birthday with a spaghetti dinner at our house. Doug and his family were visiting from out of town. We had a great evening.

Maggie's birthday is this Saturday (August 1). She is counting down the days and can't wait for her party. We have a daily count down and every day she says "that's not too long". We will have her party at the carousel room at Coolidge Park. It is a Minnie Mouse theme at Maggie's request. I can't believe she is going to be 4!

We will be signing Maggie up for soccer soon, which begins in September. I am volunteering to help Mia's dad coach, which will enable Mia and Maggie to play on the same team. It's gonna be a lot of fun.

We were placed on a waiting list for a preschool for Maggie earlier this spring and were called on Friday and advised that they have a slot for her! She will begin the first of September and will be going to school from 9 AM to noon on Monday - Friday. It is going to be quite an adjustment for Maggie and Barbara, but will be a positive experience.

Fourth of July

We celebrated the 4th with Barbara's dad and girlfriend, who stopped by on their way to Florida for vacation. We went out to dinner and to see the fireworks. Maggie actually took a 2 hour nap and was able to stay awake late to enjoy them. She really loves to watch them but thought they were a little too loud this year.

Last week Barbara taught Vacation Bible School at our church. Maggie had a cold on Monday but was able to participate on Tuesday - Thursday. She chose to stay home with me on Friday to play. Barbara said she did amazingly well and wasn't attached to her all day. I think she's gonna do great in preschool, which she will begin in September. We also went to a birthday party for Sam last Saturday and Maggie fit right in with all the kids. She is growing up way too fast. We are going to have a Mickey Mouse birthday party for her on her 4th birthday August 1st.

My mom came down on Sunday and spent the night. We had lunch with Barbara's mom and aunt and and just relaxed the rest of the day. My mom was able to see Maggie's gymnastics class this morning and really enjoyed it.
