Updates

In the past couple of weeks, we have had some accomplishments. Maggie has graduated from speech therapy and will not return unless she is evaluated and recommended for further therapy once she goes to school. Maggie went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and agreed to go back all by herself! She is an amazing child. She has three cavities and for the first time, they have to sedate her for the fillings. They are doing one filling a visit and had her first done about10 days ago. She told myself, Barbara, and Grandpa Al to wait in the living room (the dentist office is in a refurbished house) and once again, she went back all by herself. The filling was completed, she didn't cry, and she came out smiling.

Last week Barbara took Maggie for her 3rd hepatitis vaccine shot. As usual, Maggie didn't even shed a tear, but she did tell me that it "a little hurt". She is such a tough kid!

The last two nights, Maggie let me read to her in bed and she fell asleep in her room both nights. This is first since Christmas. She normally falls asleep in the living room and I have to carry her upstairs. The picture of her holding her monkey was taken last night just after she dozed off.

Maggie thought it would be cute to put on Barbara's pajamas last week and do a dance. I made a short video of her. She also thought it would be cute to wear a pillow case. This morning Maggie and Barbara were watching the Tinker Bell movie and Barbara got out a fairy princess costume that Maggie got for her birthday last year that was too big at the time. It fit perfect, and Maggie was dancing around in it. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did. I think she needs to be in a dance class. She loves dancing so much.

Also this week, Maggie got her haircut and had lady bugs painted on her toes. She has also informed us that she now wants her ears pierced.

Memorial Day

On Memorial Day, we had Barbara's mom and aunt over for dinner. We grilled ribs and they were delicious. Maggie loved them, and I think she loved the watermelon even more.

Grandpa Al

My dad came up from Florida the week before Memorial Day and stayed nearly a week. I was able to take some time off of work and we played golf 3 times. My sister, brother-in-law, niece, and great nephew Skyler visited us on Sunday, and dad left Memorial Day morning. We had a lot of fun and Maggie really enjoyed having him around. We wish he lived closer so that we could see him more often.

Happy Mother's Day

We hope everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day. Our day was busy, but nice. Maggie was so sweet this morning, wanting to give Barbara her card right after waking up, which she did, along with a big hug and kiss and a "happy mother's day". After Church we picked up Barbara's mom and aunt and we all drove to Knoxville to have lunch with my mother. The meal was great and we all had a wonderful time. We shopped for a while and got home after 6 PM. Barbara said it was a great day!

Last week I had a conference I attended in Gatlinburg and I was able to bring Barbara and Maggie along. They shopped and swam while I was in training and I got to share the late afternoon and evening with them. We went to eat on Tuesday at the Apple Barn in Sevierville with my friend Dena, who I used to work with, and her husband Bob. We had so much fun and they adored Maggie. It was their first time meeting her.

When it was time to come home on Thursday, Maggie wasn't happy. She said she likes to stay at hotels and didn't want to come home. When we told her we were going to Knoxville today, she assumed that we were staying in a hotel this evening as well. She wasn't too disappointed when we told her otherwise. I think she likes the hotel so much because there was an indoor pool and she got to swim twice. She LOVES the water!

This week also marked the 1 year anniversary of her palate surgery. I can't believe it's been a year already. She has come so far in that time, and may get to take a break from her speech therapy.
