We received our final travel information from our agency. We will be travelng via Northwest Airlines. We leave Atlanta on Friday, March 14, 2008, at 7:06 AM and will arrive in Detroit at 9:05 AM. We leave Detroit at 3:30 PM (I dread the long layover) and arrive in Tokyo, Japan at 5:35 PM (a 13 hour 15 minute flight). We leave Tokyo at 6:25 PM and arrive in Guangzhou at 10:50 PM on SATURDAY! (a 4 hour and 25 minute flight). I'm tired just thinking about that day. (We're gonna go to Atlanta a day early and stay a hotel since our flight leaves so early.)
We are still waiting for an itinerary while we are in China, but I do know this much. We will be staying in Guangxi province (where Maggie's orphanage is) from 3/16 - 3/21, and in Guangzhou from 3/22 - 3/27, when we return home. We will actually receive Maggie on the 17th, and she will remain with us from that point forward.
Our return home is follows: leave Guangzhou on 3/27 at 8:20 AM, arrive in Tokyo at 1:45 PM (4 hour and 25 minute flight). Leave Tokyo at 3 PM, arrive in Detoit at 1:45 PM (11 hours 45 minutes). Leave Detroit at 5:22 PM, and arrive in Atlanta at 7:24 PM on the 27th. (sounds alot better than the departure trip). We will then drive home!!!!
We tried to reserve our seats for all flights, but only the flights to China had two seats together. The returning flights only had single seats scattered throughout the plane. I did not reserve any seats as there is no way we can be separated on the flight home knowing Maggie will be with us. I plan to call our agency on Monday to see if they can reassure us that this won't be an issue.
We hope to have our in China plans Monday and I will pass that on at that time.
Barbara's last day at work was yesterday. They gave her a breakfast and let her go home early. She celebrated by getting a pedicure. She said that everyone had such nice things to say, and they presented her with a collection of money they gathered, along with more gifts (once again, everyones generosity amazes us). I will be working Monday and Tuesday of next week and then will be off until at least April 14th. We have a lunch today, and if you can believe, it is actually SNOWING at our house! Hopefully our lunch will still go on as planned.
