We made it

After a looooooooooong day, we made it to Guangzou, China last night and arrived in our room at about 11:30 PM (11:30 AM Chattanooga time). It took us 30 1/2 hours from the time we arrived at the Atlanta airport until we got to the hotel room in China. We actually didn't stay at the White Swan last night. We stayed at China Southern Airlines' Pearl Hotel, located next to the airport (the White Swan is an hour way - so it worked out better). After turning and tossing until 6 AM (we were still on USA time) we got up, ate breakfast (I ate, Barbara watched - it was a buffet and I had fried potatoes, sausage, a croissant, and a slice of marble cake. I didn't know what the other stuff on the buffet was so I stayed away). We left the hotel in Guanzhou just after 7 Am for a flight to Nanning, which was to leave at 9:50 AM. It got delayed, however, and we left at 1:30 PM. The flight to Nanning was only an hour. During our wait in Guangzhou, they served us lunch. It was rice, a piece sausage, what appeared to be a hot dog, a hard boiled egg - cracked but not peeled, cabbage, pieces of ham, and some brown slimy looking stuff that I have never seen. Barbara didn't eat her food, deciding instead on pop tarts. I tried the rice, sausage, a part of the hot dog, the ham, and some cabbage. It was not too appetizing, but I was hungry (what a shock). Our guide met us at the airport in Nanning, and we arrived at the Majestic Hotel in about 45 minutes. The ride was an experience as was the scenery. There are alot of people in Nanning, most riding bikes or scooters on the road. We are going to meet two other couples from our agency for dinner tonight at 7 PM. Tomorrow morning we will shop at Walmart, have lunch, and go get Maggie!!! We don't do any paperwork tomorrow, but will go back on Tuesday to complete appropriate documents. We can't wait - the hotel brought a cot into our room for us to sleep in. This computer connection is pretty slow, so I hope I can post pictures tomorrow. Barbara is doing great so far, and it has been an adventure.

Glad you made it! We are so excited for you! We are so happy we have Internet connection here at the beach; we were worried we would have to drive around to find a hotspot. We can't wait to see pictures of Maggie!!!
